Description:
The Village Garden is a non-profit, democratic, deschooling community and a homeschool resource center. We are currently located in Bath Ontario, but will be purchasing a permanent location in Kingston On. in Sept. of 2007.

Families interested in alternative learning use our facilities as often as their educational paths require support and assistance.  The organization is run by a professional teacher and a crew of very supportive parent volunteers, many of whom have extensive teaching experience. These professionals and volunteers act as mentors, facilitators, and co-learners in this community. The environment of this alternative learning society is welcoming, comfortable, accepting, and often teeming with various activities because it allows a child-led approach to learning.   Young people let their own curiosity, interests, and passion drive their learning avenues.  Decisions about school related issues and conflict resolution is handled at weekly meetings in which everyone has an equal vote and an equal say.  At these meetings rules are instituted, responsibilities are defined, suggestions are discussed and sometime enacted, and consequences are administered where applicable.

Our community accommodates learners of all ages and is very affordable.  It allows part-time or full-time attendance and has very flexible hours of operation.  Barters and bursaries are set up for families with financial limitations.
